Juried Quilt Show of Contemporary and Antique Quilts with featured Special Exhibits
QUILT CONTENT RULES
1. Each quilter is limited to two judged quilt entries. Theme quilts are pulled from categories and are not a category of their own. Each entry must be placed in a different category. We do not limit the number of quilts entered in the Antique Quilt/Special Exhibit/Exbibit Only Categories. Any number may be submitted to these categories provided they meet the criteria.2. Each quilt must consist of three components: top, batting and back, held together with stitching (excluding crazy quilts). Please credit on the entry form the traditional pattern, commercial pattern or book with author from which you took inspiration or from which your quilt is made.
3. Entry fee is $15 per quilt, nonrefundable, and must accompany entry form along with a printout of the digital images or photos.If the back of your quilt is intended to be viewed (space permitting) then an image of this view must be submitted. Make checks payable to Landmark Park.To be accepted for the Landmark Park Quilt Show (LPQS), all entry forms must be received by September 1st. This is the deadline for paperwork only. Please note that there is a $5 entry fee for the Antique Quilt/Special Exhibit/Exhibit Only Categories. Each contestant will receive one free ticket to Landmark Park’s Fall Farm Day.
4. Quilts must be complete, clean and undamaged to qualify for exhibit. Quilts in the judged categories must be constructed and quilted by person(s) named on the entry form. Group quilts are by two or more quilters. Quilt(s) worked on in any way by more than one person, including the actual quilt stitching, must be entered in the team/group quilt category .Name of group or all quilters involved must be submitted.
5. A cloth label with name of the maker, city and state the quilt was made in, and date the quilt was trade must be attached to the bottom right when looking at the back of the quilt. This label may be temporary.
6. In order to be hung a sleeve is required to be attached to the top back of the quilt. Sleeve should be made from a 9 inch loop so it is large enough to place a wooden board into it to hang the quilt. Miniature quilts are excluded as they will be pinned to a drape.
7. Each quilt entry must be submitted in a cloth bag that can tie or be secured,such as a pillowcase, with the registrant’s name and telephone number clearly marked on the cloth bag.
8. Quilts must be delivered to Landmark Park office or designated drop off points by Oct. 11th for judging and display. They must be picked up at 4:30pm on Oct. 19th at Stokes Activity Barn.
9. Entry gives consent to photograph quilt for use in event-related publicity.
10. Any prize within a category may not be awarded if it is determined that quilts being judged do not merit a prize as judge sees fit. We reserve the right to decline any submission if we deem it inappropriate or feel we do not have room to display the quilt.
QUILT ENTRY PROCESS SCHEDULE:
September 1st- Entry forms, images and entry fee for each quilt must be received by Landmark Park, LPQS Entry, P.O. Box 6362, Dothan, Alabama 36302. Entries may also be dropped off at Quilted Creations in Headland on Sept.16 from 4-8pm. Notification of acceptance will be sent via United States Postal Service. Postcard notification is your ticket to enter the show and retrieve your quilt after the show.
One week Prior to Event – October 11th - Quilts must be received by LPQS at Landmark Park between 2 and 4pm, or prior to October 11th at Quilted Creations, 24 Main Street on the Square in Headland. Shop hours are Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday between10am – 5pm.
Last Day of EVENT, SUNDAY, October 19th: You will pick up your quilt at LPQS Barn at 4:30 pm. Quilts will remain on display until 4 pm.

- First Place: $50
- Second Place: no cash prizes, but donations by corporate sponsors
- Third Place: no cash prizes, but donations by corporate sponsors

- Best of Show:$100
- Best Workmanship Hand Quilted: $50
- Best Workmanship Machine Quilted:$50
- Optional: Judge’s Choice Awards: no cash prizes but ribbon given.
- Viewer’s Choice Award: no cash prizes, but ribbon given.
- First Quilt Award: If this is the first quilt you have made, please make a note on your application. Each "First Quilt" will be eligible for this prize, regardless of category.
QUILT CATEGORY DEFINlTIONS
PLEASE NOTE: Be precise in placing your quilt in a category. Be sure your quilt meets the requirements for that category. If you have questions, please note this on form.
The quilt show panel may change the category at its discretion.
MINIATURE QUILTS (100) Must not exceed 25” x 25” or a total of 100” around all outside edges. No minimum. Any style or technique.
DISPLAY QUILTS (200) Must be more than25” x 25” or no less than 101” around outside edges and not intended for use on a bed. No maximum size. Any technique permitted, including Innovative Art quilts.
TRADITIONAL (300) Bed quilts. Must be at least 60” x 75” or no less than 270” around the outside edges and be a recognized traditional quilting pattern. On the entry form, please indicate the traditional pattern used.
APPLIQUE (400) Must be at least 25" x 25" or greater than 100" around the outside edges. Quilts in this category must be predominately applique.
OTHER TECHNIQUES (500) Quilts with emphasis on any single or combination of techniques such as whole cloth, trapunto, cross stitch, embroidered, etc. in addition to being pieced and/or appliquéd.
SMALL TEAM/GROUP QUILTS (600) Small size is any quilt smaller than 72” square or less than 288” around the outside edges and which has been worked on by more than one person. This includes any part of design, piecing, appliqué, or quilting.
LARGE TEAM/GROUP QUILTS (700) Large size is any quilt larger than 72" square or greater than 288" around the outside edges and which has been worked on by more than one person.This includes any part of design, piecing, appliqué, or quilting.
YOUTH QUILTS (800) This category is for young people, age 17 and under entering a quilt of any technique and size.Entire quilt must be pieced,quilted or tied by the young quiltmaker. Young quiltmakers are not limited to this category. The age of the quilter is required and will be listed in the program. Encouragement but no hands-on assistance by adults is allowed for this category.
THEME QUILTS (900) “Jubilee – Landmark Park’s 50th Anniversary.” Any quilt entered in any other category that showcases our theme will be considered for this award.
EXHIBITION ONLY/ ANTIQUE QUILT/ SPECIAL EXHIBIT (1000) This category is for quilts that will not be in the judged show. Antique quilts must be in reasonably good shape to be displayed. Special care will be taken to keep them intact for many more generations. This display is to appreciate and enjoy the art of quitting. We hope you will share with others your favorite quilt. Entry fee is $5. These quilts are not in the judged show. A sleeve must be pinned to the back of your quilt for hanging.
